1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how LucentNote for macOS, iPhone and iPad handles information. It applies to the LucentNote applications and this website.
2. Notes and local storage
Your notes, formatting, history, favorites, archive state and preferences are saved on your device. Secure Notes is optional and off by default. When you turn it on, LucentNote encrypts the local library and protects its key with the system Keychain.
The current release does not sync notes between devices. Each Mac, iPhone and iPad keeps its own library. If sync is added in a future release, this policy and the in-app disclosures will be updated before the feature is enabled.
3. Information LucentNote does not collect
LucentNote does not include third-party advertising, behavioral analytics, tracking you across other apps or data-broker integrations. There is no separate LucentNote account.
This website does not use advertising pixels, third-party analytics or remote web fonts.
4. Prompt backgrounds and external content
Websites
When you open a website behind Prompt, your device connects directly to that site. Like any browser visit, the site can receive your IP address and basic request information. LucentNote uses a private browsing session and clears it when Prompt closes. The website's own privacy policy still applies.
PDFs and photos
Files and photos are opened only after you select them. LucentNote checks the size of PDFs and photos before display. Temporary photo files are protected, excluded from backup and removed after use.
Camera
Camera access is requested only when you choose the Camera Prompt background. Frames are used to present the live background. LucentNote does not upload or retain a recording of that camera feed.
5. Purchases
Apple manages downloads, subscriptions, billing and refunds. LucentNote receives only the information needed to know whether Pro is active. We do not receive your full payment card details.
6. Device permissions
Depending on the features you choose, LucentNote may request access to the camera, photos, selected files or local device authentication. You can manage permissions in system settings. Secure Notes is off by default, available without Pro, and uses Touch ID, Face ID, or your device passcode only after you enable it.
7. Diagnostics
LucentNote does not send usage analytics or crash reports to a third-party service. Apple may share aggregated diagnostics with developers if you enable that option in your device settings. Apple's controls and privacy policy govern that sharing.
8. Exports, deletion and backups
When you export a Markdown file, the system file picker writes it to the location you choose. That copy is then controlled by you and by the destination service, if any.
You can delete notes inside LucentNote. Removing the app deletes its local app data. System backups are controlled by you and by Apple under your device and iCloud backup settings.
LucentNote may keep a small set of local recovery copies if a library cannot be opened. Recovery copies use the same protection choice as your library, and older copies are removed automatically.
9. Children
LucentNote is a general productivity tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through a LucentNote-operated account or server.
10. Changes to this policy
We may revise this policy when the product changes. The effective date at the top identifies the latest version. Material changes will be communicated through the app, this website or the App Store listing when appropriate.
